It is no secret that residents and visitors alike enjoy learning about the history of communities.   Along roadways, including those in Gilford, are historic markers that help inform about local history.

To aid in this Quest of History, Thompson-Ames Historical Society offers several suggestions for consideration.

The Map Packet inserted in each copy of the book "The Gunstock Parish, A History of Gilford, New Hampshire" helps show how Gilford evolved into the present. Included on the maps are sites of Gilford cemeteries, several of which can be visited.

The pamphlet "A Walking Tour" is a concise guide to have in hand while walking through Gilford's Historic District. Copies cost $2 each and are available in T-AHS's Gift Shoppe as well as in Gilford's Town Hall, Library, and Village Store.

Also available are Quest pamphlets which Thompson-Ames Historical Society has helped create. Using Quest approaches to investigate a community can be a wonderful intergenerational experience.
